the beach kids

Mel and I had so much fun shooting "a day in the life at the beach" with Aikins family. We went to Topsail Island and spent a day playing and shooting. From french toast to Elvis appearances we captured it all! These were some of the cutest and sweetest kids that we have ever worked with. Check em out!

Yea! We made the cover of The Bride's Book!

hitched in the holler!

Two of my best friends in the world just tied the knot! Manuela, my college roommate and her long-time boyfriend, David had a very intimate ceremony at a chapel in the mountains of Tennessee. I felt honored to be the only non-family family in attendance. Manuela and I are both lonely onlys (only children) so essentially we are sisters!

Hot Shoes and Cute Kids!

First off I must say that I looove the bride, the former Kristy Britner, now Kristy Meade was one of our past interns. Kristy has amazing charisma and an endless amount of determination. She is a girl who knows how to get things done! With that being said, Mel and I had a great time photographing Kristy and Cory's wedding last weekend. Apple Hill was the perfect setting for the couple to share their love and friendship with a small gathering of friends and family.

There was an amazingly high quotient of hot shoes and cute kids at this wedding!

Hiking the Rock with Rob and Mia

Last weekend the family and I went hiking at Hanging Rock State Park with our good friends Robb, aka "the Jolly-man" and his daughter Mia. Robb is a fellow photographer. He is a fine art shooter. He has a darkroom at the Lyndon Street Artworks downtown which is a super cool space for artists.

With two girls under 3 we opted for the short but rewarding hikes to the waterfalls!

Also, being the proud mommy that I am, I must ask you to take a moment to check out Liza's first braids. She looks like such a big girl!.

Liza is fascinated with bears. Here she is demonstrating how big the bear is that around the corner of the trail.

The Coley Kids

Caroline and Tate's eyes got as big around as the giant lollipops that we gave them when they saw the size of their "treat". You have to reward a kid for a job well done. It is hard work being cute!

Jules + Chad

Yea! We got to go to Asheville again. This time we were shooting for a friend of mine, Chad Hilliard. Chad and I used to work together when I shot mostly commercial photography. I worked for his dad at Tribuzio-Hilliard Studios. It is one of the largest furniture photography studios in N.C.

As always the weather in Asheville can change in a second. Mel and I had brunch at our favorite vegetarian spot, the Laughing Seed. We sat outside and commented on what a great day this was going to be for outside photography but then just as we left to go to the wedding....a downpour began. Chad and Jules had a big decision to make. The staff at Homewood was excellent. They tracked the storms and assured the bride and groom that we would have time to do the ceremony outside before the next storm cell came in. It was amazing timing. The second that we clicked the shutter for the last group shot outside on the steps of Homewood the rain drops started falling. We got all of the outside shots that the couple wanted and then d-jays music drowned out the sound of the rain during the reception.

Morgan and Corey

We photographed Morgan and Corey's wedding at the beautiful and historical Penn House in Reidsville. It was a gorgeous day! The bride designed the wedding cake. It was an amazing 6 layers high! It was beautiful and tastey!
It was so much fun shooting this wedding because the entire wedding party was so happy and ready to celebrate. We got lots of great dancing shots!

Corey and Morgan have been on my mind lately. Last time I talked to Morgan she told me Corey was shipping out for at least 6 months! I wish him home safely!
